Fine Ground Celtic Sea Salt is the same salt as the Light Grey but in a convenient shaker jar.
What’s In Light Grey Celtic Sea Salt®?
Chemically, all salt consists primarily of sodium and chloride. However, because Celtic Sea Salt® is harvested from fresh ocean water, it also contains many minerals and trace elements. Every year, we have our salt analyzed by an independent laboratory to reaffirm the superior nutritional profile that makes Celtic Sea Salt® different from other salts. Year after year, the results clearly demonstrate that Celtic Sea Salt® is lower in sodium and chloride than other salts and higher in minerals and trace elements. Additionally, Celtic Sea Salt® is tested to ensure that it does not contain any harmful pollutants– we are proud to say that Celtic Sea Salt® has consistently proven to be the gold standard in safety and purity in the salt industry.
THE METHOD MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Celtic Sea Salt® is created by the natural evaporation of ocean water. Fresh sea water is channeled into pristine clay ponds, where wind and sun evaporate the water, leaving a mineral-rich brine. The live flowing mixture is briskly stirred by the paludiers (salt farmers), until dazzling crystals form and are gathered by hand, preserving the vita balance of minerals found in Celtic Sea Salt®. Common table salt lacks minerals and trace elements because it is purified and refined, leaving only sodium and chloride. After refi ning, common table salt is mixed with iodine, bleaching agents and anti-caking chemicals to create a stark white, free flowing product. Even many salts labeled “sea salt” are washed or boiled, which removes minerals and trace elements from the salt.
Whole Foods, Whole Salt
While not a mineral supplement, Celtic Sea Salt® does contain a wide range of minerals and trace elements. Most are present in relatively small amounts, which is all the body requires of many important elements. We believe, as do many practitioners across the across the county, that Celtic Sea Salt® is an important part of a healthy diet. Common table salt is isolated sodium chloride, which professionals like Dr. Lynne August, M.D., believe affects the body like a drug. Whole salts, like Celtic Sea Salt®, contain a balanced variety of minerals that ensure optimal bio-availability and absorption. All of these minerals are important to the assimilation of food. We believe very strongly in the concept of whole food, containing a naturally balanced matrix of perfectly arranged vitamins & minerals which work synergistically together in our bodies. When whole foods are fractionated and processed, this natural balance is dangerously skewed, and the nutritive power of the food is degraded. In other words, the minerals and trace elements present in Celtic Sea Salt® are truly greater than the sum of their parts.
All Sea Salts are Not Alike
We are often asked, “What’s the difference between Celtic Sea Salt® and all the other sea salts available in the marketplace?” There are two differences. The first is taste. Everyone is qualified to conduct their own taste test. Compare Celtic Sea Salt® to some of the other sea salts available and make your own determination about taste. We think you’ll find that Celtic Sea Salt® tastes better than any other salt.
The second difference relates to the presence of trace minerals and sea water. We consider the trace minerals and sea water to be the “good stuff” in sea salt. It’s what differentiates sea salt from common table salt that is engineered to be virtually 100% sodium chloride.
We have Celtic Sea Salt® regularly analyzed by an independent outside laboratory to monitor the mineral composition. We recently sent samples of other sea salts – some of the most popular sea salts available in retail stores to create an “apples to apples” comparison on the level of trace minerals and sea water in each.
As you can see, Celtic Sea Salt® has more than three times the level of trace minerals and sea water than our nearest competitor. The answer is simple. Celtic Sea Salt® is different and better than other sea salts because of its flavor and its unmatched level of beneficial components (trace minerals and sea water)
