Healthy Living
A Healthy diet supports a lifetime of good health and provides protection against numerous diseases, including our country’s three biggest killers: heart disease, cancer, and strokes.
If you are a meat eater, consider reducing your meat consumption and going for quality rather than quantity. It is best to buy meat from local producers and buy organic too. Saturated fats are found in animal foods, such as meat and dairy products. A diet high in saturated fats can raise your cholesterol levels and increase your risk of heart disease.Saturated fats should make up only about 20% of your daily meals. The American Dietetic Association states that vegetarians have “lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease; … lower blood cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, and lower rates of hypertension, type 2 diabetes and prostate and colon cancer”. Vegetarians are less likely than meat-eaters to be obese. This does not mean it is wrong for you to consume meat. Try your best to eat quality organic meat in small amounts with fresh vegetables. Even better, make an attempt to “meet your meat”. Try visiting local farms to see how they care for their animals. Make sure the animals are not given any antibiotics or processed foods to eat. Remember whatever the animal eat and whatever drugs the animal is given has a direct impact on your health.
Eating fresh food is the optimal diet and promotes health. Fresh foods have more nutrition available in a simpler state than the diminished nutritional value of cooked and processed food.
Steaming vegetables does minimal damage. Baking and Grilling does much more damage. Microwaving and deep-frying are extremely destructive.
The fresher the better. The sooner after harvest that a food is eaten, the more nutrients’ and life force it has available. Eating fruits and vegetables that are in season or grown in your region is a smart bet for the freshest food available.
Many vitamins are heat-and light sensitive, meaning they begin to diminish soon after they are harvested. Basically, Fresher food just tastes better. Now if you can’t go raw all the way at least let your diets consist of eating at least 40% or raw foods and try to work your way up from there. If you do this you will begin to see a dramatic change in your health.
Drink Plenty of Fresh Water
Our bodies are made up of about 70 percent of water. Flushing the body with water and staying hydrated are simple solutions for improved energy, clear skin and balanced blood sugar.
A full glass of water (16 ounces) should be taken every two hours. The goal is to drink at least 1 ounce of fresh water for every 2 pounds of body weight every day. If this feels like a little too much you can cut back a little bit. Buy staying hydrated is a key element for systematic health. Drink from a nice glass water bottle, not plastic. Plastic containers release harmful chemicals into your water.
Upon rising in the morning, drink 16 ounces of room temperature water.
You can mix your water with the juice of half a lemon. This establishes the right stability and balance in the stomach for the day. It gets the digestive juices flowing and all systems raring to go!
Go Organic
Organically grown food has a wealth of health to offer the body on the planet. Organically grown food has more nutrition and no harmful chemicals, pesticides, waxes, or residues. Pesticides have been directly linked to immune system and nervous system damage. Clean input is a clear message of health to the body, down to a cellular level, for high quality integrity.
Eat Fresh Food with Every Meal and Snack
Include fresh fruit with breakfast or have a fruit smoothie. Complement lunch or dinner with a fresh salad. Have fresh juice, a power smoothie, or a piece of fruit as a snack. Have a fruit with or for dessert. Find fresh food you love to eat. Buy a raw food cook book and learn how to make exquisite gourmet foods that you and your family can love and enjoy. Also you can go online and do a search for raw foods or vegan foods. The options are truly endless.
Eating Dairy products occasionally is fine but excluding dairy products altogether will give you immediate results!!!
Taking this step will have immediate results. Dairy coats the intestines with mucus. Eliminating dairy products will clear up the intestines and allow intestinal tissue to rejuvenate with renewed function. Digestion, assimilation, and elimination will become more efficient and easier. Energy, respiration and cardiovascular health will improve without the clogging nature of dairy. Skin problems clear up and many people shed unwanted pounds. A good-quality olive oil replaces butter effortlessly.
Oils
Organic oils that have not been refined or cooked nourishes the body down to every last cell. The health of every cell membrane relies on essential fatty acids from healthy oil. It is fine to use oil in order to cook in moderation but the over consumption of cooked oil is harmful to the body’s health on a broad level and is rampant with free radicals which cause damage on a cellular level. Eating Fresh, healthy oils such as olive oil, flax oil, avocados, and raw seeds and nuts and eliminating processed and cooked oils will dramatically improve systematic health. Oils should be Organic, cold pressed, or unrefined. Stay away from refined, heated, and non organic oils.
You can drizzle olive oil over fresh or steamed vegetables rather than sautéing the vegetables in oil all the time. Sauté your vegetables once in a while. Replace all hydrogenated oils such as margarine, which contains trans-fats, with tasty alternatives. Take a good look at salad dressings: Blend a fresh salad dressing or simply use good olive oil, organic unpasteurized apple cider vinegar, sea salt and herbs instead of pasteurized dressing with unhealthy oils. Choose raw nuts and seeds over roasted varieties.
Sugars
Refined sugars offer to the body nothing more than sugar imbalances and energy crashes. White sugar is detrimental to the blood sugar and leeches nutrients from the body. Avoid corn syrup and high-fructose corn syrup for the sake of blood sugar balance and for avoiding energy crashes. Artificial sweeteners such as Nutrasweet (aspartame) are toxic. There are many alternatives that will satisfy any sweet tooth. Choose organic grade B maple syrup, organic raw honey and organic raw agave nectar just to name a few. Agave nectar happens to be my favorite sweetener. It tastes far better than sugar and is much better for your health.
Organic Grade B Maple Syrup: This is pure maple syrup from the maple tree. The syrup you find in grocery stores such as “Aunt Jemima” does not contain Maple at all. It is a concoction of several chemically enhanced flavors which tries to mimic the Real Maple Syrup. Just look at the ingredients and see if you can find “maple syrup” on the “Aunt Jemima” syrup bottle.
Raw Organic Honey: is the number 1 long Gevity food in the world.
Agave Nectar Syrup: Raw, certified organic, unfiltered Dark Agave Syrup (also called Dark Agave Nectar).Agave syrup is a natural product that can sweeten any type of beverage or food. It is derived from the carbohydrates present in the agave plant. To produce organic agave syrup, juice is expressed from the core of the agave plant. The juice is then selected to become dark agave syrup or is filtered to create light agave syrup.
Yacon root syrup: as been said to be the best low-glycemic sweetener found! It is non-glycemic, natural, raw, low-calorie sweet liquid treat that is good for you. More over than stevia and agave! Nature's healthiest sweetener — yacon root syrup!
Fresh pressed from the yacon root, this syrup is a gift from nature that has been enjoyed for centuries in the Andean highlands of Peru.
